As a child I used to fear them and many people I knew loathed them too. To us, it was just work and more work without the rewards. We watched everyone else enjoy the fruits of our labours. The guests come and play and have a rollicking great time. They then go home in a cheery mood while we clean up the mess they made. We grudgingly did so.

Many who observe celebrations like awards being given to achievers of milestones in companies or in society often offer very unhealthy opinions. But as I grew into my journey of personal development, I was invited to more of these events and realized the most successful people are actually the happiest and give of their accolades freely. You see, it is the unhappy and the poor in thought that remain unhappy with celebrations. And because they never celebrate, they never reach out to become wealthy in the first place. Wealth and happiness are never embraced. Poverty and anger are.

Each child is a symbol of fertility, blessing and wealth upon this earth. This is continuity. The celebrations may be with a baptism, a recognition or an inclusion generally into the society as another new born soul. May this child become a blessing for everyone.
