Anticipate your future and expect it to happen the way you want it to. And from this point on if you sit down and do nothing else, shame on you. Get up off your butt and go get it! Anticipate your destination but keep your wits about you and keep on guard while constantly guiding yourself towards it.
Too often the best laid plans and New Year’s Resolutions fall by the wayside. Huge amounts of energy used for the build up to the anticipated outcome are simply left to drift without any guidance. Wherefore art thou captain? Thy ship is drifting aimlessly and the tiller is unmanned. If you want to get to that charted destination, keep steering that ship. Your cargo will not reach port of call if you run aground.
Keep Your Eye on the Prize

Anticipate your future and guide your ship to your port of call.
It’s a great habit to continue and anticipate the future you have spent so much time and effort mapping out. But woe betides anyone who then drops the ball and sit back to watch and expect things to fall into place as you had expected. This is a common mistake that causes the failure of the most beautiful dreams.
Your story likely went the way you were expecting as you were putting all the pieces to the puzzle in place. Thoughts led to joy which led to many parts of your puzzle being formed with relative ease. The picture put together was accompanied by stunning clarity. Such a masterpiece surely will outlast time itself. It is at this point that the picture could begin to explode into unfathomably magnificent manifestation or collapse into ruin.
It is here that the vast majority of people would give up chasing that wonderful dream and let things slide away into the abyss. The disastrous error made is that they stop chasing that dream. They stop building it and making it bigger and stronger. The universe had already given them that wonderful picture but they fail to make it into a living and breathing entity. They stop and the universe promptly obliges.
But what if businesses like Microsoft or Apple had not had their tillers directed at all times? What if Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had taken their eyes off the ball? The internet and computer world would look very different today. As it is, these heroes of industry had steered the world into theirs.
Expect Your Future Results as Intended
What you have been building, you must continue to expect it to come as intended. Of course, the baby being born may not look exactly like the parents – at least not yet. Baby looks smaller, frail, helpless and hopefully with all its parts functioning properly. But baby is most certainly extremely hungry. Hear the cries?
Sleepless nights and many diaper changes to come. You had better be prepared otherwise baby will die or be taken away by far less caring powers that be. (Bankers and accountants are not generally known for the sense of humour or creativity. It makes me wonder what they see in the values of hardware.)
It is far better then, to nurture the fledgling company with the original vision and add to it the power of many full and nutritious meals. The key minds and development should be expanded until baby can walk. Before long, the child grows stronger and becomes much more productive and begins to feed the parents and repay all those resources spent on it. Hopefully, this boy will now be a superstar and become far stronger than most and supports everyone and more for their faith in it.
If you had been keeping on the end result of that prize, you are more likely to be able to guide the business or dream, whatever it may be to the ultimate result you had come to expect as that once baby finally grows up. Throughout the phases of growth you were the parent with many pieces of advice and guides all woven together. Then eventually, when the once baby has matured, more guidance is still necessary.
But perhaps it is then time to create a new vision to rejuvenate this now mature entity. It’s time then to put on your captain’s cap and take charge of the new port of call once again.
