Oases of the world attract the type of people who love the character of a certain place. It’s like saying if you’re an oasis, you will attract like minded people. It’s a fact of nature and taken to great heights, the greater the attractor, the greater the size of that oasis. In this past century alone many such places have grown out of need. Mega cities have formed. So, oases are like nature’s way of creating a congregation of wealth. But such wealth in turn attracts more opportunists in search of wealth.

Monaco, an Oasis of the World
What is an Oasis?
The movies portray oases as a glorified watering hole in the middle of an arid desert. But I much prefer to subscribe to the much wider view of an oasis. It is any structure that attracts many types of life forms. This congregation is often recognisable as being typical depending on the nature of what attracts them.
From an undersea reef or ship wreck which attracts marine life to a desert oasis will attract the indigenous creatures like birds, antelope, camels and people. Even larger animals like elephants and lions do occur at times. Tall mountains can attract clouds and rain. But today the biggest oases are actually man made. They are the mega cities or tourist resorts all over the world.
Being man made, big cities and big playgrounds come at a big price. It goes that such places often become the attractors of people who have great boatloads of money who own their piece of this watering hole. But perhaps, on an international scale, it is the very special well defined and select places in the world that have become the true attractors of the super wealthy. Each of these places have their very special advantages to attract a certain classification of people.
Some of the World’s Oases
1) Monaco
My personal favourite. Perhaps the very first modern man made oasis is Monaco, a one square mile Principality located in the south of France, on the Mediterranean. This is the playground for multi-millionaires and billionaires. All the top and most expensive brands of trendy goods are present here. Real estate at the bottom feeders range begins at a staggering 1.5 million Euros making this the most expensive place in the world for real estate, by the square foot. Super yachts pack the harbour. Super expensive cars fill the streets. Yet, they have the fastest drivers in the world here once a year with the Formula 1 Grand Prix. It was the Casino that started the tax free status for Monaco residents. International fame came when American actress Grace Kelly married Prince Reinier (of Monaco).
2) Casino Cities
Las Vegas come immediately to mind. Despite the great real estate slow down in the US, it still lives and is still a great attractor as a playground of the rich in the desert.
There are other great Casino cities in the world like Monaco and Macao which is on the south eastern coast of China. Is it any wonder that there are many more casinos springing up all over the world? Even Singapore has recently built one.
3) Tax Havens
This is really not a true classification. Low Tax Jurisdiction is a better way of describing these places. Many people think of tax cheats and drug lords dominate these places because of false promotions in the movies and many politicians who try to blame these places for their countries’ poor economic performance. But shame on them when they have been found to use these places to defer and avoid paying taxes their very own countries levy. Anyway, it’s the people who are concerned with retaining their wealth in an oasis of safety is the reason for these places’ prosperity.
The Caribbean Islands and countries, the Caymans, some of the British Isles, and many others are still around the world. Panama and a number of South American countries are lucrative for paying low taxes too. Of course let’s remember Leichtenstein in Europe too. But perhaps the very best low tax and an economic jewel of the world is Hong Kong.
By the way, these places are also great tourist destinations. Great weather and a friendly climate is what attract more and more people there. It’s this fantastic competitive advantage that drives the engines of their economies. This makes them the envy of any economic super power in financial trouble – which is most of them.
4) New Super Cities
This is really a 21st century extraordinary phenomenon. Shanghai of China comes to mind as the world’s most successful city and also the wealthiest overall. It’s also the world’s fastest expanding. Then you have Dubai of the Arabic states in the Middle East. In 20 years, desert sand has grown into a super metropolis with no tax levied on residents. If you think the great cities of the world fantastic, just visit these places. They have matched what the older cities of New York or London has taken many generations to accomplish in less than 2 decades. Who came here? Well, investors, people looking for their fortunes and of course the billionaires.
Be the Oasis and Wealth Attractor
I write this article to elaborate the point that nature has intended how a successful place or environment works. When you are the oasis, (and I don’t mean having a private swimming pool in your back yard) you will attract the people into your life who are much more like minded. This can be the business you are working on, or a very special purpose or even a social one. When you attract like the beacon in an empty field, everything within sight of that beacon will come and live within your shelter.
If you like being a Monaco, then emulate it. Think, feel and surround yourself with all the friends, trappings and skills that can make you one. You’ll be elated when you attract such a huge like minded following. Now, you may also like to join other attractors like clubs that can give you the very same things you want.
