I’d like more feedback on how to stay cool in a car while driving. A truck nearly ran my car over on the highway. Like most people, my immediate reaction was to curse these !@#$%^&(*). Of course, this was very uncouth by the kids’ standards. “Oh, aunty R. What language did you just use?” I mean, there were kids and me in the car and we’re going at the speed limit. So, how fast did that driver do? I dug deep immediately and found some quick answers.
10 Steps To Stay Cool After A Near Collision

Staying Cool In A Car. Black Pickup.
1) Turn on the aircon if it’s hot out or let in more air if it’s cool. The sudden rush of cool air suddenly really cools very high temperatures (me).
2) Breathe in the cool air deeply. Fresh oxygen in the body really does turn down one’s thermostat and stops me hyper-ventilating. Using carbon dioxide in a bag somehow seems like a very bad idea in such a situation.
3) Say, “I’m cool, I’m cool…Is everyone alright back there?” In as concerned a voice as possible. Taking my mind off the “jerk” somehow helped me get down a notch.
4) Remind myself that guy must have been in a hurry for a good reason. But somehow, his hooting laughter is still ringing in my ears and I’m not convinced. It works in situations where you can’t hear deriding stuff like that.
5) Just smile and sit more errectly. Yes, that works a little. Changing posture always works to a degree.
6) Turned on a piece of music to sing to loudly. Oh, I forgot the kids who by now were covering their ears. Sorry kids. Aunty R needs to wind down a little. Then I put on a nice CD for them to sing along too.
7) Pull off the highway and took a sip of cool water. Ah…that hits the spot.
8) I got out of the car and stretched a little while taking in a few deep breaths. I’m almost to myself now.
9) I took out my special dream book and looked at the pictures of that cruise I’m about to go on. Now, that was just priceless. Wonderful.
10) Now, myself and the children are smiling at each other and started to laugh at what had just happened with some stupid jokes.
You see, I took a long time to get back to my stride because that situation on the highway was so very close to being life and death. My car was on the shoulder of the highway at high speed and was nearly run off the road by that moronic, probably drunk driver. Yes, I would have throttled him if I had the chance. And then there were the kids to think of. But, all’s well…for now. Our health is still in good shape.
