In decades past, Mr. Spock of Star Trek wished his friends to live long and prosper. And if you go back in historical China, you’ll find it in scripts dating back almost five thousand years. Today, it’s still a greeting and parting wish among the Chinese cultures. This greeting or wish upon your friends is a noble one shared by many ancient but wiser peoples.

Prosperity and Long Life

To Live Long

In wisdom speak this phrase simply implies that one lives a healthy life. To live a healthy life also means to have good food. Life should be relatively happy and stress free. Ancient texts are full of stories of the elixirs that bring great health, cure disease and sometimes aparent immortality. Those people who have knowledge of great medicines or godly energetic powers have the ability to prolong life.

Taken with a pinch of salt so to speak, these elixirs can be likened to the amazingly potent health bringing nature’s produce like ginseng, coconut oil, whey, eggs or berries. So many other truly remarkable natural ‘discoveries’ today were available and well known in ancient times to bring health and vitality.

Long life also means the propensity to grow in wisdom. Knowledge expands with a long living person’s healthy mind. The better one’s health, the more likely that person remains more adventurous, courageous, and is able to accomplish more to amass wealth.

Prosperity With Long Life

The ancient Chinese have literature that is filled with wise and wealthy individuals. They, who have learned the ways to grow wealthy because through many years of their lives they remained healthy and prosperous. They have developed their abilities to include building a happy supportive family, a highly productive farm, a prosperous community and have developed a trading system.

To be prosperous also includes a great supportive family. In ancient days, more than one wife is considered proper for a wealthy person. But many children are also important. Even in smaller families, six children with a balance of three boys and three girls is a typical ideal. The great families of great patriarchs often consider the power of nine boys as ‘the nine dragon sons’.

The reasoning is that these children and the wives all become part of an extended community who support the economics of the family’s business. This further expands the ability of the family to become even more prosperous. This is the building of family and generational wealth, overseen and mentored by the great patriarch. But sometimes, it is the great matriarch who rules the family affairs.

This reverence for long life, a stable community structure and wisdom leads to great wealth being built. This wealth in turn is also the support for greater health and more productive pursuits. Leisure activities which feeds the expansion of their cultures also ensure even more productive minds for the future. History shows that if allowed to continue, such an ideology can continue to build prosperity for just about every person within that community for many generations.

Live Long and Prosper.
