A child whispered, ”I need a hug, Momma”. Close your eyes to all the bad stuff my child. Now open your eyes and you’ll see all the beauty in the world. Haven’t we all needed a nice warm, reassuring hug from time to time? But it is a wise parent who tells the child, and perhaps it’s also wise to heed this advice.

Shut Out The Bad Things

I Need A Hug

War and the scene of the battlefield of death, destruction and gore is what many soldiers have to live with. These are never pretty memories. But, if like the child, a guardian angel or your soul was able to tell you shut out the memories; your eyes that you will never see, so never remember those events, would you? A soldier from the battle field will tell you that they wished never to remember the actual experience therefore they make it all appear justified. But no, they much prefer not to remember the experience.

A child grows up in abject poverty with crimes, violence, drug use and all manner of debauchery, and yet, there are children who have been taught to shield their eyes from these experiences that would have brought them into the same lives of their elders. But, since they have only seen with their own imagination, perhaps they do not know of such things.

Open Your Eyes And The World Is Beautiful

Open meadows and flowers. The sky is a brilliant light blue, the grass the greenest ever. Bees are busy, butterflies flit around as do the dragon flies. Ahhh, the perfection of paradise. But perhaps, you run on the beaches of the world. Yes, the world is beautiful too.

It’s so peaceful and wondrous that nothing that could harm anyone has ever happened here. Maybe, I missed it all. But this perfect life is what I see. There are some children who wander through life being in this life of beauty. Momma has taught the little one well. This child is always at peace and never hurt anyone. This child is passive, placid even.

Need A Hug, Give A Hug

Often, it is something we missed when we were children that comes up into our memories. We experience a familiar event which hit us so hard we fall to our knees. Well, I did and relived an event weighed with so much emotions it literally floored me. All it took were the plaintive words of a child, “I need a hug.” He had just had a tough emotional experience and was overwhelmed. All he needed was the warm reassurance of Momma.

It was this feeling of being emotionally abandoned and distraught. I had seen and experienced some truly awful things that even soldiers or those living in ghettos might relate to. And true enough, I asked a friend for a hug.

By the way, this friend hugged me heart to heart. That is supposed to give energising power to a friend in need. Scientifically proven or not, I find it most effective. I’d help a friend, a child or in fact anyone in need of a hug this way.

The amazing effect was that I suddenly saw and experienced the great things I loved. The warm beaches, the heavy rains, the blue skies, the great cities, the beautiful homes and my children. Through the tears, a huge smile appeared etched on my face. I only needed to wipe them away. It’s such an emotional freedom.
