Instinct makes us run from fear and the frightening. Like the panther on the hunt that frightening fearsome monster will strike you down. But then should you decide to turn and face down your fear, as the wiser adventurers of times past will tell you that these fearsome hunters prey on one thing more than any other. It is your very own feeling of fear or panic. Your flight is the trigger signal that turns the panther from otherwise avoiding you into a deadly monster.
Face it and challenge it without fear and you make become smaller than it appears. The fearsome predator now turns and fades into the jungle never to bother you again. So it is the same in stark reminder of what fear does within our minds. We must face down our fears to defeat them. Whether in darkness or in the brightest light, the feeling of fear will dissipate once you face it. After all, that dark monstrous feline might just have been the neighbour’s pet house cat in the daylight.
Where do fears and things that frighten reside? In the jungles we think that every single clump of trees therein hides a predator ready to pounce. Round the corner in the cities we think there might just be that knife wielding drunk ready to take you wallet and life. At home, you think every single phone call might be that money grabbling loan collector. In business where you think every person will simply want your money but never buy from you. At work you think that every other person is trying to get you. On the streets where you think each bunch of people are gangsters ready to relieve you of your hard earned self respect. You think making money appears so frightening a prospect you can only think of failure.
We think about our fears far more than anything else. Our fears then are really in our minds. You know, worries are the same. Things have yet to occur but the fears perpetrated by the fear moguls of media have driven our psyches into frightened overdrive. We are in fact living barely beyond the survival mode. Just like the creatures in the jungles where we hide and scurry from shelter to hideout eking out a bare subsistence. The predator appears to be the frightening king of the jungle. In the urban setting, it is the same. The ones who strike fears in the weak minds wins. You buy until you cannot pay but they want their pound of flesh. And meekly, you give or run. But notice, the ones who stand their ground frightens these urban bullies away.
Face Down The Fear
Take away that fearsome information we have all been fed with and what do we have? Equality reigns. I’ll repeat this: fear is all that your mind says it is. People in the jungles of Asia have actually faced down tigers and lived to talk about it. You see, what they do tell is not about being fearless but it is the trust they give to their God or the universal energy that these powerful animals will respect and keep them safe from harm. It is the feeling of being safe from harm.
Now, it reminds me of the stories kids tell about facing down bullies. We all know that bullies almost always operate from the position of fear. They fear and therefore must pulverise anyone they think they can. The sad fact is that they often do. However, some kids take no nonsense from bullies in school or the playground. Their attitude is that of ‘back off and go away’. It’s not so much of a dare but of knowing that the bully is actually a very frightened person that is afraid of being hurt. These kids demonstrate holding their ground. You see this as they get older and also in our daily lives. But unfortunately, there are things such as guns and knives.
However, in our daily lives, there is another experience that works more often than it allows fear to hurt you. That is the power of speech. Again as you talk to a possible assailant, the speech without fear but of confidence and reason often gains respect instead. Remember, even before any of these events can occur in your lives, train your vibrations to say you are safe or you are friends with everyone or you are invisible to the hunter or perhaps very simply that you have a wonderful and safe life.
Be safe and have a great happy life.
