This is a story about self taxing thoughts. It depletes energy beyond imagination. A young lady came up to me and complained that she is always tired. Obviously, something depletes the energy right out of her. This is supposed to be a vivacious and healthy person. There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with her at all. But the frown on her face told me all that I needed to know.
Energy Sapping Thoughts

Thought Is Energy
What was causing her mood swings? She was thinking of some things or a series of thoughts were sapping her energy. Was she worried? No, everything in her life appeared to be quite smooth or was it?
This is a story that so often afflicts so many of us unknowingly. It’s insidious. It creeps into our minds and controls it. It is the negative thoughts that we play over and over again because of a recent traumatic incident or maybe because an argument had ensued. Sometimes someone at work had been extremely critical or even abusive and these thoughts keep playing over and over again on automatic.
Before you know it, your whole body responds by being tense. It does not release the energy you once had. In fact, the young lady who just a few days ago drew looks of envy now looked fifteen years older. Very few people even noticed her. Her shoulders drooped. Her clothes do not seem to suit her.
You see, after a short talk, she at last realized that events at work were bothering her. Then it led to events with a friend’s landlord. Then it went on and on. She kept worrying about the same issues over and over again. What thoughts can do to a person is astoundingly effective.
“I Love Me” Cure
She wanted to feel good by thinking good thoughts but it didn’t really make a big impact on her broken record. Many of those same thoughts kept coming back. Then I remember observing children after they’ve been emotionally hurt by someone calling them terrible names.
I used to tell my children that they should compare the hurtful words to themselves. Were they what they were being called? Of course not! Then what does mummy always calls them every day? It’s always words of love. So, love is the answer.
It’s a beautiful thing to observe the light that shone in her eyes as she almost immediately regained her posture. Her looks returned almost immediately and that vivacious young lady returned with self confidence.
This is an “I love myself” story at its best. She simply muttered I love myself repeatedly after listening to my story of my children’s recovery and feeling good about themselves again. The sun was shining again as her dark clouds dissipated.
We Feel As Children
We are still children in many ways. Much of how we think and how we lived as children remain with us as deep seated feelings. We still deal with what “mean” people say to us the same way. Similarly, the “cure” is really to do as a child would. Know that to appreciate and love one-self are extremely effective methods of making one-self feel really good.
In fact, many good things come as a result of such good feelings. This is the opposite of when feeling bad as the bad sort of things tend to show up like having more incidences of bad mouthed people.
I realize too when I keep thinking about the negative things other people say, I reduce my power for what I desire. I’m sure you’ve all experienced that numerous times. But that is until and unless you have changed your habits. Positive, successful people have developed the awesome habit of putting a positive spin on everything they experience. It’s time we followed their principles. Actually, observing them, they sometimes remind me of happy children.
