The Tao simply means a way or method one leads the ideal life according to the book of Tao. I’m simply borrowing the term only to express my recent experience about the life of a pizza man I know. The Tao is really the closest term I can use to describe his life.

Pizza Man’s Tao

Tao Of A Great Pizza

You want more stuff? I give you more stuff. He cuts the sausages. He trims the pepperonis. He grates the cheeses (four kinds, no less). He slices the pineapples. He chops the roasted bacon. Bits of ham get the same treatment. The bits of roasted meats were already done. He chops onions, peppers, mushrooms, olives and whatever else he spices his pizzas with. His hands flew around in a blur that comes with unconscious competence. Then I see the sauce which he makes from fresh tomatoes. Then he literally puts more stuff on my pizza orders. Wow! All hand made country style.

I was really hungry and ordered an extra one (my family loves them). Out comes the dough and he does his rolling and famous pizza dough swinging to flatten it perfectly before he slathers all the ‘stuff’ on it. My, he’s generous. All the while there was a smile. This man really enjoyed doing this.

All this feeling of having food made with love and joy brings me back to home and family. How I love cooking, but this man was doing it for me, the way I would for my family. It’s no wonder this man’s pizza is so wholesome and delicious.

Granted that he can’t get that special flour from italy nor can he afford to use the special clay ovens, but still, his pizza is still quite exceptional. And he makes it in this very hot and fast oven. They always come out so crispy, fragrant and loved. He’s happy when his customers tell him they love his pizzas. That’s his Tao.

The Family Man’s Tao

Well, true to his Italian ancestry, he’s a loving father. They want more? He gives them more. And as I observed, he might just be doting on them just a bit too much! But, he does it with a smile and his huge rolling pin in his hand…lol. Yes, his children always come back to dear old dad.

That’s this family man’s Tao at work. His kids need more? He sells more. He works harder. But there’s something about love and appreciation that brings more. They are always provided for. Charming.

So, pizza man. As you provide for your family, more business and more opportunities for business will come to you. Thank you for showing me you care about me, your customer. Thank you for showing me you appreciate your family. Thank you for making lovely pizzas for me to feed my loving family. I’d love to offer you more business as you provide me those opportunities to offer my friends to soon become your friends. Happy Tao to you my new friend.
