Father's Day Food...

Father’s Day Celebrations

“Hi Dad, Happy Father’s Day!” A chirpy voice but that’s 7.30 on a beautiful sunny evening. “Hey, thanks buddy! How are ya?” A special day for Dad on his day off and Son was absent. He called right when the celebrations were just about over. Now, why was this father still so glad to hear from him?

Self Restraint

Listening to most of Dad’s guests growl about how this disrespectful kid should be told off and given a good scolding, Dad should have. But why didn’t he? In fact, he was simply doing this his way and paid no attention to anyone else.

Perhaps Dad practised great self-restraint. Or it could have been something else? Snide comments was loud and all over the place from some suddenly grumpy guests. “He’s such an ungrateful son…on Father’s Day too…”. Again, was it simply patience that Dad ignored those grouchy, tipsy words? But watch. Perhaps the smile on his face said it all.

Love was written all over Dad’s voice, face and body language. This guy obviously cared far more for his son than all those nay sayers combined.

Behaviour Affects Relationships

Just sitting back and observing, one can tell the relationships between parents and their children. Complaining words with angry attitudes mixed with love will develop just that. Who wants to listen to a voice scolding them even though you still need to ask for school money?

The happy, welcoming voice from Dad received a very similar one from the other end. You see, Dad realized that Son could have been delayed for some serious reason but still found time to call his dad. He knew he would get a warm reception. What a great relationship. They both obviously love, think, trust and care about each other immensely.

I can’t help but feel that those complaining guests were also more than a little jealous of the warm relationship Dad and Son has. But if they’d only realize what they think about or do with their children they will get the same in return.
