This is a story about the affairs of loyalty and possibly a touch of royalty. The regal fellow in question at the centre of it all has become, for all intents and the purpose of this story became the family dictator. In the personal development of roles, a slave thinks his way further into that role and the master or mistress believes in ruling all lesser men. But can the roles become reversed while still functioning within that same household?
The Mistress

Mansion 'House'
She rules all within her domain. The children sometimes will gripe back at her, but are always repentant later by force. It’s amazing what the forces of guilt and having to eat fast food versus mum’s lovingly cooked food can do to make children come crawling back home. School bullies and street ambushers of her children have come to regret their actions when faced with the tigress of the village (at least that’s what those cowards call her). Even school teachers have come to take her suggestions under serious advisement.
Yes, the matriarch conquers all. She lived long and strong. Husband is the ever willing bread winner of her family business. I mean he works for her ‘Daddy’. Daddy’s little girl can have such an enormous influence. They lived in what I used to call the mansion-house. She’s most gracious to her friends and I counted myself fortunate. But people who have offended her little ones have had to face her wrath.
I knew this person way back when my life wasn’t nearly as complicated. Those were the good old days. Even her pets had it made. The servants were deemed to be of a lower status than those furry or scaly ones.
Trained To Become Dictator
Now, remember the part about being developed to playing roles in life? It really happened here. Yet, this is the household which one would never have thought a role reversal could ever take place. The matriarch, my friend, really was a tough and determined task mistress. The servants and herself included would see to it that everything was made to exacting standards. Then came a new love into her life.
He was made to be given the best of everything and not want for anything. He wants a new chair? It came the next day with all the trimmings and comfy cushions money could buy. Her car was changed just so that lover boy would have a more comfortable ride. Bemused husband said little for fear of offending his big lady. However, the children simply adored new love.
They went to the biggest electronic store and bought a bigger than average television and moved the furniture to suit him. So, they placed the chair, tv and a new woolen rug for his cold feet in winter. In fact, the whole family often had a party around the area just so that they could entertain their wonderful new family friend. Yes, he had a most disarming smile and was always able to get a great deal of affection from everybody in the household. Actually, even the servants found him most charming. But such devotedness began to draw some very serious issues and drawbacks.
Pampering of this lover boy really started to get out of hand. Mum of course would never say no to this young fellow. This kind of give, give, give went so far that it became an expectation every single time. Yes, it got seriously expensive too. And the time and effort devoted to this one guy was also eating into the entire household’s productive time. In a very short time, expectations became demands. Demands became commands. Commands became almost overbearing. How ungrateful can one get?
Thus Mister Family Dictator became a reality. In fact, the children and servants were now fearful of offending the new dictator. He would growl and his friendly demeanour vanished. When going for walks, my dear friend despaired because she would even carry him home! How dare her ungrateful new love do this to her – the ingrate? Well, silently, I prayed she would send him to a place where he would receive etiquette training. She once purred his nickname so lovingly, but today I heard her growl back in annoyance, “Tiger!”

Family Dictator Pet Dog 'Tiger'
So, to those who read this article, think very carefully when you decide to bring in a new and permanent family member. Tiger was her pet dog.
