By and large, relationship beats intelligence. Think about this real case for a moment: A great relationship got you very far but the demonstrable higher intelligence got you tons of work. I’m talking about two very different people with very different approaches in life. One built great relationships everywhere he went which got him many business opportunities and successful projects. The other delved into school books and technology which got him many contracts but as an employee with endless hours of work. A decade later, the man with the high EQ owned the company of his high IQ compatriot.

EQ vs IQ

Which Is Stronger - The Intelligence of a single lion or the relationship safety of the buffaloes?

EQ Is More Successful Than IQ. EQ and IQ are measures of different areas of intelligence. So what’s the big deal? Relationship building makes the difference in success between people with higher EQ than people with higher IQ. But that is ot to say intelligence has no place on earth. In fact it has and plays a great part in our lives today. However, without the added strength of relationships, there is no combined power for survival of many differing scenarios that this world can dish out.

EQ is about the emotional function in the human mind. This measure deals with how well someone functions with other people. And that is a huge function. In fact, people with lower emotional functions do not do well in society regardless of how smart they are.

The high IQ person appears to do well in school or other academic functions. But their forte is also their limitation. In this society, the people who focus predominantly on their IQ are often limited by their scope in life. They can all but find a salaried employment. They lack the great creativity in social circles. Relationship building takes a back seat and they basically get nowhere in social success.

Relationships Equal Success

It is the relationship people have with each other is what makes everything work. What great friendships do is build that deep trust not possible to read from a resume. Deals are made between people. Most business deals are often done in very casual settings like in the homes of business friends or while on the golf course or perhaps while fishing.

Relationships span the whole range of expertise and functions within this very widespread society we now live in. The population of the earth has expanded so greatly that we can’t really do well unless we understand each other. And that takes knowing one another through communication.

Fail to communicate effectively and you’re left in the gutter. Worse, if you shun society and appear to be uncommunicative and unlikeable, you’re basically shutting yourself off from all opportunities. Well, at least the best opportunities are offered to be people best known to be wonderful people.

Imagine being in the army and you don’t communicate with your comrades. They don’t know or even trust you. Through manoeuvres, no one can trust you to do the right cooperative thing. How can you expect to be trusted in battle? Even your own comrades may treat you like an enemy! It takes tremendous teamwork in the army and without it you’re basically untrustworthy scum to your platoon. It matters not how intelligent you are. There is no trust because there is no good relationship. Without that trust there is no success in any battle.

Great Relationships Sell, High Intelligence Speculate

It has been proven time and again great relationship building sell because the buyers trust you. With relationships, clients remain. Friendships remain because of relationships. With such lengthy times spent together, experience is created. And more sales can be created more easily with greater momentum and longevity.

However, high intelligence often use data and the analysis of data to understand life. Many models of what can and may happen are created in sets of numbers. This is not experience. It is a very narrow view of how the universe works. But sadly, the faith put upon these artificial intelligence theories have almost always yielded negative returns especially when things change unexpectedly like during a huge market panic sell-off. They call this an ‘abnormal’ condition. I guess they think human emotions are abnormalities. That is why we say these imputed scenarios are speculation.

It’s again more amazing that emotions can be directly related to intuition. If the sense is there to make you feel that something is unsafe or that market conditions have gone south, why lay your faith and money on them? Yes, it’s a feeling we all get from time to time that has saved our lives more than once for each man, woman and child. A computerized mind cannot perceive this.

Let’s take a quick look at the relationship of friendship. Yes, I’ll trust a friend who understands me and vice versa. We see eye to eye and will lend a hand when we need to. Leave it to a cold calculated analysis and very likely, we will have been terminated by so called intelligence. But yet, with that trust friendship creates, even if one falters the other can save the day and both benefit in the long run that is life. Yes, I’ll go with relationship over pure intelligence any day.
