A curious thing about entrepreneurs is to build and innovate and then repeat. But they are impossibly difficult to get to decide what not to do. Everything is possible to get ahead and therefore do far too much. Deciding what to cross out the to-do list to allow more focus to get ahead is needless to say, tough. For example, Steve Jobs was asked to return to Apple 90 days from bankruptcy and he promptly removed 70% of the product line. Apple turned a profit that year. Just like anything we do in our lives, what can we remove that is causing that drag on our success?

Deciding What To Let Go

It's Tough, But I Have To Give Away Some Of My Precious Fish Because There Are Too Many.

Often, we will not even consider letting go of anything even if it’s literally killing us. What’s causing that? Well, let me use some analogies:

1) When we are starting to develop our wealth, we save and store things as a way to build wealth. But what we’re ignoring is the sometimes extreme cost of keeping these things with us.

2) As we grow, there are things we do that we feel so comfortable with even if it is a harmful habit, it is never changed for the better.

3) It’s also like wearing the appropriate clothing. Many of us are still trying to fit into skinny clothes 50 pounds later.

4) Someone upset us and the first thing we do at home is to chug down a bottle or six pack of beer or a pack of chocolates.

The decision to let go of something sometimes require a truly honest viewpoint to be brought to us. Typically, it happens by hazard because we’ve been awaiting our law of attraction cause and effect to occur. But since we’re already experts at this attraction like thing, then of course asking a friend or an expert to give us their opinion might work right? But then are you mentally willing to remove these things from your life? Are you ready to take the necessary action?

Letting Go To Get Ahead

It’s by far, easier said than done. It’s only human to hang on so tightly to everything. It defines us after all doesn’t it? Yes, because of that identity, we fear losing it. The fear of change is often all that is holding us back. Therefore, the fear of letting go of something is really the fear of change. Think about it for a moment. Is that a rational or valuable way of progress or does it hold you back completely. It’s like trying to keep wearing that old worn out suit and presenting yourself as a smartly dressed person. You can’t make it work!

Do an honest assessment of where things are right now. Find out what’s working and what’s not. Only then can you really convince yourself of what you must do to let go of the things physically, emotionally and mentally that are holding you back. You see, if you remain stagnant or weighed down when a huge financial or situational change occurs, you will be facing almost certain disaster. Yes, I mean ‘when’ because with life, change happens. To illustrate, imagine being on a boat with a hurricane approaching. Try outrunning it but you have left your anchor deployed. How fast can your boat go without being so tied down?

Get Efficient

A racing car driver will always ask for the lightest car possible because he or she can go round a track much faster. This racer can accelerate faster, it can brake faster, it can go round bends faster, change directions faster, use less fuel and wear the tires out more slowly. This is efficiency. A race car designer knows this. You can do the same because you are the racer, and seldom the designer. So, who can you have as the designer of your brand spanking new you?

It’s like marketing research. Find experts and get their opinions. Now, experts are actually most likely your customers as they need and use your services. Depending on your issues, they may be your family and friends who actually tell you what’s great about you and what’s not so great. Also, if you belong to an activity group, like a fishing club for example, ask them about you! But in a business setting, step up your game and include masterminds and other pros. Do your due diligence. You can save a ton of money which releases your ability to invest in productive pursuits and have cash for other things like a much needed holiday perhaps?

Now, I understand that this is only a synopsis of what is required of you do get really efficient and drop off those dead weights. But lose the useless baggage (rubbish or garbage, depending on country) and you’ll be flying through life any way you want to and be enjoying it all. I guarantee it.
