This article will offend. But I have been advocating success through developing oneself to the nth degree. And then a very pious someone I used to know clashed head on…with me.
Self Growth Versus Religion
Just me enjoying a little success.
That’s what the heading was supposed to be. But I did not want this article to get banned. Or at least be on the receiving end of the people casting the first stones. Self growth is what this generation of people have been driving towards. The churches and religions in general are being fed by supporters, like most of us. But they are very definitely not paying for our mortgages and food on the table.
Yet this very small in number but very militant ones wanted me to “tone my stand for personal development down a little”. They were not so polite in their very own terminology. In fact, I remember my mother being so fearful of the church leaders, she gave till we starved. And yes, the hypocrits lived in the lap of luxury and travelled widely abroad. And oh, yes. Their children got to go to school abroad too. We walked around without shoes and never got to finish our schooling.
Self growth really stood for independance for ourselves. “How dare you speak of not delivering to your Almighty…”. Well, I’ve got news for you. You have never fed me. You have only taken from the mouths of children. I was one of those children. Make no mistake, I am spiritual. Highly spiritual enough that I consider all men and women as one under the heavens. But I will let no man or any organization stand in the way of our freedoms of choices.
My soul is well fed by my understanding and being delivered into freedom by sheer hard determination. Now that you, the pious one who considers asking for alms as prayers, find it hard to get financial support, find the going tough. The shoes (or the lack of) are on the other feet.
Pardon my angst. But I must take a stand against false “do gooders”. Make no mistake, I wholy encourage and have friends in various religious orders. But these people are truly honourable in offering their energies, resources and time to great causes. We must all be on our toes against the false prophets and if they be known, be rid of them from our lives. We’ve all been preyed upon long enough don’t you think?
